Datacenter Proxies FAQ
Frequently asked questions about BytesFlows Datacenter Proxies, bandwidth limits, concurrency, and sticky sessions.
Datacenter Proxies FAQ
Q1: Is bandwidth truly unmetered?
Yes. During your active plan term, traffic is not deducted per gigabyte. Whether you transfer 100 GB or 10 TB, there are no extra traffic charges. The service is governed by the bandwidth limit (e.g., 100 Mbps) and maximum concurrency (e.g., 200 threads) specified in your plan.
Q2: What is maximum concurrency and what happens if exceeded?
Maximum concurrency refers to the number of simultaneous active TCP connections. If you have a 200-concurrency plan, your application can establish up to 200 concurrent HTTP/SOCKS5 requests simultaneously. Excess requests will be briefly queued or throttled with HTTP 429 status codes. High-concurrency enterprise upgrades are available upon request.
Q3: How do I maintain a sticky IP session?
Append -s- (session identifier) and -t- (duration in minutes) to your username:
u-myuser-loc-US-s-task1-t-120
- Duration
-t-supports values between 1 and 120 minutes. - As long as you maintain the same session ID within the specified duration window, requests route through the same exit IP. Without
-s-, requests rotate automatically.
Q4: Are datacenter proxies recommended for e-commerce multi-store management?
For strict platforms (Amazon, eBay, PayPal, Etsy), we strongly recommend BytesFlows Dedicated Dual-ISP Static Residential Proxies.
- Static residential proxies have authentic residential ASN trust scores, low fraud risk, and remain 100% dedicated to your store.
- Datacenter proxies are optimized for high-volume web scraping, competitive intelligence, and automated data pipelines.
Q5: How do I troubleshoot connection timeouts?
- Verify username syntax: Ensure your username includes the
u-prefix and valid password without trailing whitespace. - Perform verbose cURL check: Run
curl -v http://u-username:password@p1.bytesflows.com:8001 https://ipinfo.io/jsonto inspect the handshake. - Firewall rules: Check if outbound TCP port 8001 is permitted on your server.
- Subscription status: Check the BytesFlows dashboard to verify your datacenter plan is active.
