SwitchyOmega Integration

Route Chrome and Firefox traffic through residential IPs with SwitchyOmega

Create SwitchyOmega proxy profiles backed by BytesFlows residential IPs. Use PAC scripts to auto-switch between proxy and direct connections per domain β€” so only the sites you target go through residential IPs.

How SwitchyOmega routes traffic through BytesFlows

SwitchyOmega intercepts browser requests and routes them based on your configured proxy profiles and PAC rules.

🌐

Browser request

Chrome or Firefox makes a web request. SwitchyOmega intercepts it before it hits the network.

πŸ“‹

PAC rule evaluation

SwitchyOmega checks your Auto Switch rules β€” matching the request URL against your defined patterns.

πŸ”€

Profile selection

Matching requests are routed to the BytesFlows proxy profile; non-matching requests go direct or to another profile.

🏠

Residential exit

BytesFlows forwards the request through a real home broadband IP. The target site sees a residential visitor.

Works with SwitchyOmega 2.x and 3.x on Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and any Chromium-based browser.

Configure BytesFlows in SwitchyOmega step by step

These steps apply to SwitchyOmega in Chrome. Firefox steps are nearly identical.

  1. 1

Install SwitchyOmega from the Chrome Web Store

Search for "Proxy SwitchyOmega" in the Chrome Web Store and click "Add to Chrome". After installation, click the SwitchyOmega icon in your toolbar to open its options page.

  2. 2

    Create a new proxy profile

In SwitchyOmega options, click "+ New Profile" on the left sidebar. Name it (e.g., "BytesFlows Residential") and select "Proxy Profile" as the type. Click Add.

  3. 3

    Enter BytesFlows proxy server details

Set Protocol to HTTP or SOCKS5. Server: p1.bytesflows.com, Port: 8001 (HTTP) or 1080 (SOCKS5). Check "Use the same proxy server for all protocols" if desired. Enter your BytesFlows sub-user credentials in the auth fields below.

  4. 4

Set up Auto Switch rules (optional but recommended)

Create an "Auto Switch" profile. Add URL patterns for sites you want to proxy (e.g., *.amazon.com, *.google.com). Set the action to use your BytesFlows profile. Set the default to "direct" for all other traffic.

  5. 5

Apply geo targeting in the username

To use a specific country, modify the proxy username to include geo parameters: your-user-cc-US for United States, your-user-cc-GB for UK, or your-user-cc-US-city-chicago for Chicago. No password change needed.

  6. 6

    Save and activate the profile

Click "Apply changes" at the bottom of the SwitchyOmega options page. Click the SwitchyOmega icon in your browser toolbar and select your BytesFlows profile to activate it.

Why SwitchyOmega + BytesFlows works for browser-level proxy control

1

Per-domain proxy switching

Route specific domains through residential IPs while others go direct. PAC script rules let you proxy target sites without slowing down everyday browsing β€” granular control without OS-level proxy settings.

2

No browser restart required

Switch between proxy profiles with one click on the SwitchyOmega icon. Instantly toggle between BytesFlows residential proxy, a different proxy, or direct connection β€” no settings dig, no browser restart.

3

Supports all Chromium browsers

SwitchyOmega works on Chrome, Brave, Edge, Opera, and any Chromium-based browser. Combined with BytesFlows HTTP or SOCKS5 proxies, it covers all major desktop browsers.
